Mountain High Adventure 2026 - Week #2 Photo Page

On Monday we went to Churchville Park to paddle on Black Creek. We launched the canoes and kayaks and went upstream a ways, checking out the many different flowers growing along the shoreline and looking for signs of wildlife. After lunch we went to the beach for some swimming and sand castle building. (I forgot my camera so no pictures of that. Sorry) We arrived back home just in time for parent pick up.

On Tuesday, we rode our bikes on a 12 mile treasure hunt, looking for hidden clues along the way. We took time to ride the merry-go-round at Ontario Beach Park before riding home and figuring out the final clues and enjoying our treasure. Then we went back to the beach for maybe an hour before it was time to go home.

Wednesday morning the kids played in the back for a little while until everything we needed for the day's adventure was loaded. Then we went geocaching. After a good hike, we fund a geocache hidden out in the woods and traded some items. We continued deeper into the woods towards another geocache. We found some snails and toads to check out. Soon people were getting tired and hungry so we turned back and returned to the van. After a short drive to another spot, we ate lunch and I set up a zipline. We played on that for a while before they wanted to go back to the beach.

On Thursday, we packed the trailer, planned our menu, went shopping and drove to Tamarack Campground which we had never been to before. It turned out to be a nice spot with a playground, swimming pool and miniature golf course as well as friendly staff. We set up camp, cooked, cleaned up, played, made smores ad had a good time. As always, we started our campfire with flint and steel and dryer lint. The kids got to practice that skill.
